PETRA MARATHON RESCHEDULED TO 2011
 

Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage site elected as one of the ‘New 7 Wonders of the World’ in 2007. It is an ancient city carved in the sandstone mountains. Runners will experience astonishing sights and a challenging course through a unique landscape.
Taking place in and around the storied cave city of Petra in Jordan, this new race fulfills all the requirements of an Adventure Marathon: Breathtaking scenery, strenuous route, heat, changing surfaces and one of the most impressive tourist sights in the world!
The marathon starts outside Petra and goes through a narrow gorge for 1,2 kilometers, which ends at the foot of the astonishing Treasury (Al-Kazneh) (you may recognize it from the closing scenes of the 3rd Indiana Jones movie "The Last Crusade"). The route then continues past the other impressive tombs and monasteries carved in the mountains before heading out of Petra and in to the sandstone mountains.
