Columbia Cruce de los Andes, 8th Edition will take place on February 6th, 7th and 8th 2009 in Patagonia.
 
 



A new border crossing… a new course…
A new and incredible adventure… with a unique logistic!
As in all the previous editions racers will be immersed in a breathtaking landscape.
During each edition racers crossed the Argentinian and Chilean Andes through a different border crossing. The first edition took place in 2002, starting in Penitentes, Province of Mendoza and finishing in Portillo, crossing the Andes through the Cristo Redentor border. In 2003 the race started in Villa Pehuenia, Province of Neuquen and finished in Icama, crossing through the Icama border crossing. In 2004 racers started in Pucón, Chile and finished in the Lanin Volcano in Neuquen, Argentina, crossing through the Tromen border. In 2005 Racers started in Catritre, Neuquen, Argentina and reached the finishing line in Puerto Pirihueico in Chile through the Hua-Hum crossing. And in 2006 the race started in Cerro Bayo in Villa La Angostura crossing the Andes through Cardenal Samoré. In 2007 racers started in Trevellin and reached Futaleufú in Chile. In 2008, racers started in Bariloche and crossed to Chile through “Perez Rosales” international border crossing to reach Pehulla in the region X in Chile. In this new edition we will be running across 3 provinces: Neuquen, Chubut and Rio Negro and we will reach Chile through a new border crossing.


 

 
 
 
 


The spirit of Columbia Cruce de los Andes is to live 3 days immersed in the Andes, sharing with friends and colleagues and experiencing a profound contact with nature and sport. The mountainous landscapes surrounded by lakes, glaciers, mountains and volcanoes are considered of unique beauty worldwide; and participants have the privilege of trekking the Andes safely, due to the important organization behind this major event.
There are great expectations for this international event; with the participation of a huge ammount of racers from all over the world. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, entries were filled in less than a month.
The race consists of 100 km divided in 3 stages. Racers will participate in the Event in teams of 2. The containers’ deliverance and tent personal setting, will be mandatory.

- 80 years (the 2 members must sum 80 or more)
- 100 year (the 2 members must sum 100 or more)

Registration cost: US$ 335.-  per participant includes Container.

 

Registration will have no refund. In case racers inform till 30 days before the race of the impossibility to participate in the Event, they will have an entry for the following edition and will be able to use 75% of the total ammount (U$S 225.-) If racers inform 30 days from the race day; they will be able to have an entry but will have no refund whatsoever.

Campsites:

During the 2 night race the Organization will establish a base camp where each of the stages will finish, and racers will spend the night in the campsite till the following stage begins. The organization will have its base in the campsites. There will be chemical toilets and medical tents.

Escorts:

Escorts will not be allowed in campsites. Participants must remain in the campsites alone. The container deliverance is mandatory, as well as the personal tent setting.

Meals in campsites – Booking:

The organization will offer meals in campsites (lunch and dinner). They must be requested in advance by e-mail.

Containers:

The container is MANDATORY for the transportation of all the personal belongings. The organization will rent 400 Rubbermaid containers for U$s 35.- ( it includes the container transportation to the campsites)

The changes will be accepted but they will have a cost. You may do it till 7 days before the race by e-mail.
